Many of you have asked me how to make and sell an e-book. It’s quite simple so don’t be afraid!
THE BASICS IN A NUTSHELL
First of all, you need to write your e-book in a word document or whichever word processing program you use. When you are happy with the end result and you have finished editing and adding nice photos, convert the document into a PDF document. Remember that photos are very important especially an art related book so make sure your pictures are good ones. Why not purchase a copy of one of my e-books so you can see the format? This way you’ll have some really cool lessons to do with your students and have a visual reference to help you create your own fabulous e-book 🙂
Next, upload your finished PDF e-book to a brilliant site I use called e-junkie which will store all of your digital products such as music, photos and e-books for you to sell. They have several plans for you to choose, as low as 5$ a month and the whole process it very easy to set up. I use Paypal and Google Checkouts as payment options within e-junkie and there are two more other options available to you. Sign up for a Paypal account here if you don’t have an account yet. Since you will be selling books or digital products you need to open a business or premier account. When I did all these steps it was an easy set up so don’t worry.
E-junkie will give you links for each of your products and posting these onto your blog or website is very easy . You can find all this information on the e-junkie site. I don’t know of other similar sites that provide this service but I am very happy so far.
If you have a self hosted WordPress blog or site, check out these WordPress eStore plugins that can also help you out.
You really don’t need to be a tech guru 🙂 Just someone with a lot of passion and plenty of good quality content. There are plenty of e-books out there so make sure yours is a great one! I hope I have motivated you a little to get out there and start creating and selling your e-books too. All the best and here’s to your future amazing e-book(s)!
Let me know how it goes.

nice post ms.Ale, I also want to sell an ebook. but does wordpress supports us to put a paypal button on the blog page? i’m afraid it will infringe the TOS
Yes it does–as long as it is your own product. Good luck.
Hi, thanks for sharing your article. I have an ebook that I want to sell but I just don’t know how to go about it. I just have a question or 2 though. Does that mean that we need to upload our ebook to a site like E-Junkie first and then link it to our website to sell? Can’t we upload it straight to our blog/website to sell?
Hi Jlyn. I also couldn’t figure out a way to upload my books straight to my WordPress account to sell and I don’t have a website. Ejunkie has been fabulous and I am glad I did it this way. I pay 5$ a month and I can store up to 10 digital products–in this case my e-books, and all I do is link the codes. They also have a marketplace which is another opportunity to sell my books. I really can’t say anything bad about them. If you figure out how to do it via your blog, good for you and let me know! Thanks for stopping by and good luck with your e-books. 🙂
